There are different types of technologies that are employed in manufacturing and production, and their usage depends various on factors such as product characteristics, level of investment and nature of the process. Various conveying products applied to aid manufacturing and industrial processes include;
Transportation Conveyors
These move product from one point to another and not meant for product accumulation. They include non-powered or gravity rollers, belt conveyors, Belt driven rollers, Plastic belt conveyors. In most industries, there is always movement of product be it raw material or finished product from one point to another. These types of belts are therefore very important.
Accumulation Conveyors
The design of these types of conveyor belts is such as to transport items, while allowing build up of products of high production rates and regulating product movement for efficient manufacturing or packaging. Some types of accumulation conveyors include, achievement to be moved to other equipment or labor down the production line. They are important in
Minimum Pressure Conveyor
Minimum pressure here refers to the pressure the belt conveyor exerts on cartons in the line. There is some driving force on the product every time. These systems are typically belt driven roller conveyors or rubber conveyors belts and are usually more cost effective than other types of conveyors. They are never recommended for systems that can easily be damaged when there is excessive force.
Low Pressure Accumulation conveyors
In this type of conveyor system, driving pressure on the product is entirely removed once product accumulates on the line. There is always an activation mechanism to the rollers or the conveyor to keep intermittent movement on the product. Sensing devices such photoelectric sensors and programmable logic controllers are used to trigger the drive actuation. This type is generally more costly than other types of conveyor systems.
Rollers and Conveyors Usage in Various Industries
There are very many systems of material handling, be it raw material, in process or finished products. Whatever your manufacturing process looks like, there will always be a conveyor system that can be applied. Conveyors are used in all industrial process such as food processing, beverages, pharmaceutical industries, cement manufacturing, plastics, foundry and many others. It is recommended to do thorough due diligence with industry experts and even conveyor idler manufacturers, for guidance on the best conveyor belts for your application.
Proper selection of conveyor Belts and rollers Conveyor for your industry will ensure that every process in the manufacturing, sorting and distribution line operates at optimum level all the time, enhancing efficiency as well as effectiveness.
Rubber Conveyor Belt
These types of belts are used in conveyance of items or products having irregular or varied bottom surfaces. They are also employed on small sized items that would easily fall and are damaged or fall between rollers. Products packaged in bags would also need rubber conveyors belts as the bag could sag in between the rollers.
